BOM (Bill of Materials)
A BOM (bill of materials) is a structured list of all the raw materials, components, and sub-assemblies needed to make a finished product. In Peasy, the BOM is defined within a production template and drives ingredient calculations for work orders.
How It Works in Peasy
- BOMs are part of production templates — each template has a BOM listing ingredients and quantities
- When creating a work order, the BOM determines how much of each ingredient is needed
- BOMs can reference other produced items, creating multi-level BOMs
- Ingredient quantities on the BOM are for one batch; they scale with the production quantity
- Template gap alerts notify you when BOM ingredients are running low
Why It Matters
The BOM is the master plan for production. It ensures you have the right materials in the right amounts before starting a production run, and it drives accurate COGS calculations for manufactured products.
