Data Management

Peasy gives you control over your data with options to explore using demo data or completely reset your account when needed.

Adding Demo Data

Demo data is a sample dataset from a fictional company (Mustard & Co.) that includes items, vendors, customers, orders, and inventory. It's useful for:

  • Exploring Peasy before adding your own data
  • Testing features risk-free
  • Training new team members

How to Add Demo Data

  1. Go to Configure > Business in the sidebar
  2. Scroll to the Developer Tools section
  3. Click Add Demo Data
  4. Peasy will create sample records and redirect you to the Items page

The demo data is tagged so it can be removed later without affecting any data you add yourself.

Wiping Data

Peasy offers two ways to remove data from your account: wipe demo data only, or wipe everything and start fresh.

How to Access the Wipe Data Feature

There are two ways to access the data wipe dialog:

Method 1: Through the User Menu (available when you have demo data)

  1. Click your profile icon in the bottom-left corner of the sidebar
  2. Select Clear demo data from the dropdown menu
  3. In the dialog that appears, you can choose to wipe just demo data or all data

Method 2: Through Business Settings (admin users only)

  1. Go to Configure > Business in the sidebar
  2. Scroll to the Developer Tools section
  3. Click Wipe Data

Either method opens a dialog with two options:

Option 1: Demo Data Only

Removes only the sample data that was added via "Add Demo Data". Your own data will not be affected.

When to use this:

  • You've explored with demo data and are ready to add your real inventory
  • You want to clear sample records but keep your actual business data

What it removes:

  • All records tagged as demo data (items, vendors, customers, orders, etc.)

What it keeps:

  • Everything you created yourself

Option 2: ALL Data

Permanently deletes all data from your account including:

  • All items and inventory records
  • All customers and vendors
  • All orders (sales orders, purchase orders, transfer orders)
  • All bills and work orders
  • All RFQs and quotes

When to use this:

  • You need to completely start over
  • You want to reset your account to a clean slate

Important restrictions:

  • This action cannot be undone
  • Non-admin users can only wipe all data once — if you need to do this again, you'll need to contact support or have an admin on your team do it
  • Admin users have unlimited wipes

Resetting to Start Fresh

If you want to completely reset your account and don't currently have demo data, here's the recommended approach:

  1. Add demo data to your account:
    • Go to Configure > Business (admin users) OR
    • Use the Add Demo Data button on your home page
  2. Once demo data is added, access the wipe dialog:
    • Click your profile icon in the bottom-left corner
    • Select Clear demo data from the dropdown
  3. In the dialog, choose ALL data instead of just demo data
  4. Confirm the wipe

This will give you a completely clean account, ready to start your onboarding journey from scratch.

Note: The "Clear demo data" option in your user menu only appears when you have demo data added to your account. If you don't see it, add demo data first using the steps above.

Good to Know

  • The "Clear demo data" option in your user menu only appears when you have demo data added to your account AND you haven't used your one-time full wipe yet
  • Wiping data clears your onboarding journey progress — you'll start fresh with journey selection
  • Demo data can be added and removed as many times as you want
  • The full wipe (all data) is limited to one use for non-admin users to prevent accidental data loss
  • If you've already used your one-time wipe and need to reset again, contact an admin user on your team or reach out to support
  • If you accidentally wipe data or need help recovering, contact support immediately
