Transferring Inventory

If you have multiple locations, you'll sometimes need to move stock from one place to another. The Transfer page makes this quick and easy — pick what you want to move, say how much, and you're done.

How to Transfer Items

  1. Go to Inventory > Transfer in the sidebar.
  2. Select the destination — Use the location dropdown at the top to choose where you're sending items to.
  3. Find the item you want to transfer. The table shows:
    • Inventory — How much is already at the destination
    • Elsewhere — How much is available at all other locations
  4. Click the Transfer button on the item's row.
  5. A panel slides open on the right. Enter the quantity you want to move.
  6. Repeat for any other items you want to include.
  7. Click Submit at the bottom to finalize all pending transfers.

The Pending Transfers Panel

When you click Transfer on an item, the right side of the screen shows your pending transfers. This is like a shopping cart for transfers:

  • Pending tab — Shows all items you've queued up, grouped by source and destination
  • Item tab — Edit the quantity for a specific item, and choose which unit to enter it in

Pending transfers are saved automatically, so you won't lose them if you navigate away or close the page. Come back anytime to finish or adjust before submitting.

Common Questions

What's the difference between a transfer and an adjustment? A transfer moves stock from one location to another — your total inventory stays the same. An adjustment changes your total on-hand quantity at a single location, usually to correct a discrepancy found during counting.

Is stock "in transit" during a transfer? Not on the quick Transfer page. When you submit a transfer here, inventory moves immediately from the source location to the destination. If you need an in-transit or received workflow, use a Transfer Order instead.

How do I fix a transfer if I submitted the wrong quantity? Quick transfers apply immediately, so the fix is to do another transfer or inventory adjustment to correct the quantities. If you want a formal ship-and-receive process with status tracking, use Transfer Orders.

Can I transfer items between locations in different units? Yes. In the Item tab, choose the unit you want to enter and Peasy converts it behind the scenes. That lets you move stock in the unit that makes the most sense for your team.

Good to Know

  • You need at least two locations to use transfers. If you only have one location, this page won't be useful until you add another.
  • The Elsewhere column is helpful — it shows how much of each item exists outside the destination, so you know what's available to move.
  • Transfers update inventory immediately when submitted — the source location goes down, the destination goes up.
  • Each transfer is logged in Inventory History as "Transfer Out" and "Transfer In."
