Working with Fractional Quantities
Peasy supports decimal quantities everywhere — inventory counts, purchase orders, sales orders, work orders, and transfers. If your business deals with partial cases, bulk ingredients, or anything measured by weight, you can enter exactly what you have.
How to Get There
Go to Inventory > Count, Buy > Purchase Orders, Sell > Orders, or Inventory > Transfer. Any quantity field with a unit picker supports decimals.
Where You Can Use Decimals
Fractional quantities work anywhere you enter a number in Peasy:
- Counting inventory — Enter "2.5" cases when you have two full cases and a half
- Purchase orders — Order 0.5 pallets or 3.75 lbs from your vendor
- Receiving — Receive 2.25 cases if that's what showed up
- Sales orders — Sell fractional amounts to your customers
- Work orders — Use 1.5 batches of an ingredient in a recipe
- Transfers — Move partial quantities between locations
Peasy stores exactly what you type — no rounding, no restrictions on decimal places.
Switch Units for Easier Counting
This is the trick that saves the most time. Whenever you see a quantity field with a unit dropdown next to it, you can switch units to count in whatever makes sense.
Example: You buy chocolate chips in 25-lb bags. You're counting inventory and you have 2 full bags plus a partial bag.
- Go to Inventory > Count and find the chocolate chips.
- Click the unit dropdown next to the quantity field.
- Pick "25-lb bag" and enter 2 for the full bags.
- Or switch to "lbs" and enter the exact weight — maybe 58 lbs.
Either way, Peasy converts it to the right amount in your inventory unit. This works on the Count page, purchase orders, sales orders, and work orders.
Good to Know
- No rounding. If you enter 2.333, Peasy stores 2.333.
- Estimate or be exact — your call. Got two-thirds of a bag of flour? Enter "0.67" bags, or switch to lbs and weigh it.
- The unit dropdown is your friend. Whenever a decimal feels awkward, try switching to a different unit.
